  POLICE

The police on the roads are not there just to harass tourists, it is their job to stop people and check their papers and drivers licenses. If you are in the wrong, don't argue, just pay the fine but do insist on a receipt. If you really feel you are not in the wrong and feel up to the challenge ask the police to lead you to the nearest police station and deal with the situation there. Don't try compare the state of local vehicles to whatever problem you are having, locals are treated just as harshly and have probably paid those same policemen many times.

There are still police on the roads that are out to make a quick bonus, don't get cheeky, you are in a foreign country, treat them all with respect, take down their details (ie the officers badge number and his name, exact time and location, details of 'offence', etc.) and report it as soon as possible, either at the next police station or at your destination.

For more information on the above please go to the Tourism Association website, it has useful information for all travellers :  www.asinhosgaza.com
